Pete Abe Will Vote Moose In

Pete Abraham is going to have a HOF vote when Moose comes up for election. Today on his blog Pete asks the question should the Moose make the Hall? To quote Pete, "I will vote for him."

Pete was on the fence until he had a conversation with Johnny Damon, who brought up the point that Moose pitched his entire career in the AL East, facing eight teams that won the World Series (Blue Jays 1992-93, Yankees ‘96, 1998-2000, Red Sox 2004, ‘07). Per Pete's blog, Damon said, “It’s different for a pitcher pitching in this division. The schedule isn’t balanced. A guy like Moose, he was facing a great offensive team every other time he pitched.” Who knew JD was so smart?

Damon makes a great point. The AL East has always been regarded as one of, if not the, toughest division in baseball. Moose never pitched against an inferior lineup like many of his NL contemporaries, namely Maddux and Glavine. That has to count for something. Hopefully, those writers on the fence consider this when voting time comes.

One of the goals of this site is to make sure they do.
